My determination to delay the induction date paid off - Lachlan finally made his move 6 hours before the time induction was scheduled. After about 4 or 5 hours of early morning mild contractions we came to the hospital - and I was already 6 cm dilated...couldn't believe it, Acupuncture had obviously helped things soften up :) things started moving but I felt totally in control, used a mix of yoga, active birth techniques and acupressure...to get through the rest of stage 1. Transition/2nd stage was certainly intense but I got through with only a few puffs of gas, otherwise it was all about the pressure points in my feet, yogic breathing, and I think I even dozed off in child's pose between contractions! Pushed Lachie out with only 2 stitches needed...again, a much better outcome than the first time. He only took 3 1/4 hours to be born from the time my waters were broken.
Prue - my midwife was intrigued by my use of the combs! I seriously didn't let go of them from the time I got in the car to the time I had to push! She's going to get some to use for future patients!

"Two days prior to my due date I had my first acupuncture session with Prue to help induce my labour naturally. The following afternoon I had my second acupuncture session and I went into labour at 10pm that night. Following my arrival at the hospital at 1 am my son was born shortly after at 5 am on Christmas Eve. I achieved a drug free natural vaginal birth; a VBAC, which is what I had been working towards.
